Database

Pilots, Aircraft, Types and Airports

All data about pilots, aircraft, types you fly with and airports you fly to are stored in the Logger database. This database is created automatically for you when you import flights from other eLogbooks or from supported airline roster systems. When you log flights manually, you can add new data into these databases directly from the flight detail.

  1. Pilots

  • You can access pilot database directly from the "Database" tab (sidebar on iPad/Mac) or from the flight detail view

  • Note that batch editing is only available from the database view

  • Pilots can be grouped either by A-Z or by Company. Pilots marked as favourite and "SELF" will always display on top

  • SELF:

    • You can mark one pilot as SELF and can name SELF anyway you like

    • Logger excludes SELF from pilot statistics

    • Logger also uses details from SELF when importing from airline rosters to accurately assign PF, TO and LDG, where applicable. Please make sure that your crew code is set up in the ID section for SELF

  • Pilot Details:

    • Photo can be added to each pilot, it is then saved in the iCloud Drive under the Logger folder

    • Headline displays number of flights, total time and date of last flight with the pilot

    • Name: display name used as the name on the record. This data will be printed on PDF exports and in flight details

    • Alias: is a secondary name which you may use for pilots with multiple names, e.g. "John Alex Adam Doe"

  • ID: Crew ID or Crew code. Logger uses this data when importing from some airline importers to determine PF sectors, take-offs and landings

  • Company: Company with which the pilot is associated. This field will be used when grouping pilots by company

  • Base: Pilot base

  • License: Pilot license. When signing flight from flight detail, you can quickly include PIC license provided that the PIC pilot has license field filled in in the pilot details

  • Position: Pilot position (display information only)

  • Phone and email: Display information only

  • Attributes: You can set one pilot as SELF here. You can also mark any pilot as favourite

  • Remarks: You can add remarks to each pilot from pilot detail.

  • List of Flights: Displays all flights with the pilot. You can search within the list and enter flight detail, you cannot however modify any data of the flight from there

  • Map of Flights: Displays interactive map of flights with this pilot. The function is very similar to interactive map

  • Batch Editing:

    • Batch editing of pilots is only available from the main database view (not from flight detail)

    • Delete: You can delete multiple pilots. Deleted pilots will be removed from all flights

    • Favourite: Favourite pilots will be displayed on top for quick access

    • Merge: When 2 or more pilots are selected, merge function becomes available. Selecting the merge button will display a merge sheet where you can select "master" pilot into which all other pilots will merge into. Upon selecting "merge" from merge sheet, selected pilots will merge into one and flights will get automatically relinked to the one master pilot
